2021 Photography Challenge

2021-weekly-pic

It’s that time of year again. Time for me to post my 2021 Weekly Photo Challenge… with a whole new set of photo prompts for a new year!

Here are the rules: Each Saturday, starting in January, join me in posting a photo. The above list of the prompts is meant to help inspire us. The order does NOT matter. In other words, you don’t have to start at the top and move toward the end. For this challenge, you may pick any prompt on the list and start with that.

Bonus! If you count the number of prompts, you’ll find there are more prompts than necessary to complete the year. That’s because I find it a little easier to complete some prompts over others. So, if there’s one that’s really stumping you, no problem! You can skip it.

Want to join me? Please make sure to include the tag #2021picoftheweek so I can check out your posts! I’d love to see what kind of photos you come up with.

See you in the New Year! 🙂

Photo Challenge #1 / Leading Lines

20190101ma_0057“At End of the Pier” / Theme: Leading Lines

A little about this photo…

One of my first photos of 2019! Went down to the lake on January 1st and captured this shot. Among many others. I had a hard time figuring out which photo to use and which prompt to start the year off with! Well… this is the one I chose. The lighthouse at the end of the pier.

In the summer, this place is packed with people. On a cold winter’s day, we had the place to ourselves. (This is Lake Ontario, by the way. If you look closely, you can see the city of Toronto off in the distance.)

Photo Challenge #52 / From a Distance

20181103ma_5948“Celebration” / Theme: From a Distance

A little about this photo…

These are the fireworks over Niagara Falls. I took this photo back in November, but I thought it was appropriate to save for the time between Christmas and New Year’s.

Please note all the people taking video or whatever with their smart phones. It’s funny, but I always think to myself: Why don’t those people just relax and enjoy the firework display instead of trying to capture it in a picture? Then I look down at my big DSLR camera and shut my mouth!

Photo Challenge #51 / It’s Pretty

20181117ma_6277“Tree Lights” / Theme: It’s Pretty

A little about this photo…

Magical Christmas trees made out of lights. The only thing that would make this photo prettier would be for there to be snow on the ground! (By the way, these are part of the Festival of Lights display in Niagara Falls.)

Photo Challenge #50 / Black and White

20180819ma_4789“Bump, Bump, Bump” / Theme: Black and White

A little about this photo…

This shot was inspired by A.A. Milne. “Here is Edward Bear coming downstairs now, bump, bump, bump, on the back of his head, behind Christopher Robin. It is, as far as he knows, the only way of coming downstairs, but sometimes he feels that there really is another way… if only he could stop bumping for a moment and think of it!”

Photo Challenge #49 / Warmth

20181129ma_6298

“Fireside Chat” / Theme: Warmth

A little about this photo…

I saw this amazing fireplace in the lobby of a store. I just happened to have my camera with me, so I took a snap. I’ve been wanting to get a fireplace for my Warmth prompt, and it turns out that this is that photo. 🙂

Photo Challenge #48 / Light

20180709ma_3869“Grampa’s Lamp” / Theme: Light

A little about this photo…

I love this light! It hangs in my grandmother’s home. My grandfather (apparently) put it together from a kit way-back-when. I love the pattern on the ceiling. And I like how you can just make out the photo in the background. (My grandmother and her sister when they were kids in their matching dresses and their bobbed hair! Grama’s the one on the right.)
