“Starry Sky” / Theme: Look Up
A little about this photo…
This is the Great Hall, located in Queens, NY. It was constructed for the 1964-65 New York World’s Fair. Housed in the Hall of Science, its theme was Rendezvous in Space… hence the blue glass that makes up the walls of this giant room. And it really is a giant room (something you can’t quite grasp from the photo). During the World’s Fair, the exhibit featured Frank Capra’s final film projected onto a suspended screen. Apparently, when the film ended, two space modules performed a docking maneuver overhead!
I have two photos and I couldn’t decide which one I liked better. So I decided to put the second one below…

I wouldn’t have been able to choose one either. They are both pretty nifty!

I can see why your indecision. I like the first. But then, no, I think I prefer the second. On the other hand … yea, I understand what you mean.

There were more photos, too. But I did manage to narrow them down to these two.
I wish I would have got a wide shot of this place. But I was soo interested in looking up that I didn’t!

So many times, we don’t think to take the shot, our attention held by something other. I don’t think there’s a camera day when I don’t kick myself at least the once. You should see my bruises!

It’s nice to know I’m not the only one with bruises from kicking myself! 🙂

Beautiful. I will have to check this place out next time I’m in NY. Thanks for sharing these photos.

It’s in Queens, near Flushing Meadows. They also have a “rocket garden” if you’re into space (with some of the original rockets from the Mercury and Gemini programs).

Isn’t it, though? That’s exactly what I thought when we walked into the room.
